Lana’s Journeys:
The Land of Blue Sun
~chapter 3~
Lana swallowed hard as she hid behind a tree breathing hard. She
didn’t hear or see anyone around she didn’t know anyone was around
especially in the Northern Forest she was always told that it was a dark
scary place where nobody lived, so why would there be any people in
the Northern Forest? “ I SAID WHO GOES THERE!” the manly voice called
out again. Lana looked from around the corner of the tree and saw an
older elfin man with a long white beard that hung all the way down to his
ankles and no hair on his head, he had a hunched back and wore a long
brown tunic and pants to match with wooden sandals and a large stick in
his hand a little taller than he was. She tried to concentrate to turn herself
in visible and she did. The old man’s slanted eyes gazed back and forth
through his thick white eyebrows then he took a step forward he moved
his stick with him stabbing Lana’s toe through her boot. Lana tried to stay
still with her mouth tightly closed and her eye twitching trying her best not
to scream because if she did, not only would she get caught she would
lose concentration and become visible. The man kept pounding the stick
on Lana’s foot not knowing she was there and she was biting her lip trying
not to say anything but she could not bear it any longer. Lana gave a
high pitched squeal and held her foot and hopping up and down
“ouchie ouchie!” The old man looked back and forth “WHO GOES
THERE!” He covered his ears “Ouch my ears! Be quiet you invisible
monster!” Lana had just then sighed then became visible and sat down
under the tree with her eyes closed “Ouch my foot hurts” she said in her
gentle high-pitched voice. The man looked over at Lana “That is definitely
no monster,” he thought, “She is more like fairy!” Lana got up and brushed
herself off then walked over to the man “I am sorry Sir, I did not know I was
trespassing it will not happen again” Lana bowed and picked up her bag
and started to walk off. “Wait come back stay with me for a while,” the
old man said. Lana turned around and looked back at him then she
walked back to him. “Here I will take you to my house” the old man
motioned for Lana to follow him and he led her to his house then opened
the door for her. After she walked in he did then closed the door behind
him. He told her” Please sit down, young one” She sat on a cushion across
from him at the low table in his living room. He poured her and himself a
cup of hot tea,” So young one, why are you in the Northern Forest?” she
answered, “I am here traveling from the Land of Two Moons, my family
and my Master were killed in the war so I am going to start a new life on
my own.” He looked up at her with his slanted deep blue eyes “a knew
life?” The man thought “she is not that old she is only about 4,547
moons…wait she fought in the war!?” Lana had her bag sitting behind her
and her wooden flute rolled out but she hadn’t been paying attention.
“That is a beautiful flute you have” said the man. Lana looked up while
she sipped a little tea ”what?” she looked behind her and saw her flute
“Oh, thank you I carved it myself” she sipped some more tea. “You are
welcome” he poured some more tea out of the pot and into her cup then
his. Lana nodded in thanks for the tea and drank a little of it then got up
from the cushion and picked up her bag “ I should be going soon.” the
old man stood up also “well if you must” he said. She had started to walk
towards the door when he said “Wait!” Lana turned around. “ Here this will
help you on your journey” the old man gave Lana a small brown sack.
She opened it up and saw some silver Merits. “Thank you sir” she bowed.
“It was nice to have you over,” said the old man, “it was nice to meet
you.” Lana smiled “it was nice to meet you too.” Lana waved goodbye as
she walked out the door and the old man waved back and as she
walked out he said a silent prayer in his head “ Be safe young one, be
safe.”
